Hi! My name is Ashley and I live in New York City. I was born here; my family’s here; my life is here.  I have a Mom, a Dad, a sister named Kim, a brother-in-law named Drew, and a dog named Nikki.  Mom and Dad live on the Upper East Side.  Kim and Drew live downtown and I live farther downtown near the very tip of Manhattan.  When I say my family lives here, I don’t just mean my immediate family.   I mean the whole family- Granny My, Dad’s mom, and Oma, Mom’s mom, also live on the Upper East Side.  Aunt Betsy, Dad’s aunt who’s like my third Grandma, lives up there as well.  She and Oma fixed up Mom and Dad on a blind date.  Oma told Mom, “Just do me a favor and go out with this guy.  You have nothing in common with him but just do it.”  And now, Mom and Dad are still married and the rest is history.  This story explains everything.   Most importantly, it’s the reason why my number keeps getting in the hands of men I’ve never met.

However, it doesn’t explain the birth of the blog.  Recently, I became a Foodie and subscribed to Gourmet Magazine.  I was sad it folded.  It was the only magazine I subscribed to and its absence is a huge loss to the Foodie world.  I thought I’d start a Tribute in honor of Gourmet’s 68 years as a magazine.  I will cook as many recipes as I can for 68 weeks and test them on friends and family.
